Alrededor de 6.000 almerienses se dieron ayer cita en la Plaza de Las Velas de la capital para celebrar la consecución del título de campeones de Europa por parte de la Selección Española. Estos festejos se vieron empañados por "numerosos" actos vandálicos aunque no hubo que lamentar daños personales pese a que un inmueble de oficinas tuvo que ser evacuado, según informó hoy el Ayuntamiento.

Calificados de "cafres" por el portavoz del equipo de gobierno municipal, Pablo Venzal, algunas personas que no han podido ser identificadas prendieron fuego a cinco contenedores de carga lateral ubicados en la calle Soldado Español mientras tres destinados a la recogida selectiva de papel y envases ardían en la urbanización de El Toyo.

El siniestro, además de carbonizar los cinco contenedores en el centro de la ciudad, ha afectado seriamente a la fachada del edificio, cuyos vecinos llegaron incluso a ser evacuados ante el volumen de las llamas. Por otro lado también han resultado quemados un parquímetro, una farola y la fachada de un comercio, mientras que un vehículo que se encontraba estacionado en las inmediaciones ha sufrido desperfectos.

Por otro lado, han sido objeto de actos vandálicos jardineras y parterres, sobre todo los que se encontraban en las inmediaciones de las fuentes que ayer se convirtieron en el centro de celebraciones. Dos de las que ha sufrido mayores daños son la del 'Obelisco', en la Avenida Federico García Lorca y la del 'Remador' del Parque Nicolás Salmerón, donde los remos fueron arrancados y localizados hoy abandonados en la zona.

También en la Fuente del Diezmo ha habido algunos incidentes, ya que han sido sustraídas cuatro boquillas, aunque desde la Concejalía de Medio Ambiente se ha destacado sobre todo la suciedad de la mayoría de los espacios en los que se celebró la victoria de España.
